Savasana – Yes or No?
Do you belong to those who can’t wait to lie down in Savasana after finishing the active asanas, or would you rather skip it, thinking you’ll rest in the evening anyway? If you fall into the latter group, I have a few positive effects that might convince you to fully surrender to the pose next time and make the most of it.
The purpose of Savasana is to completely relax the body and mind without falling asleep. As simple as it may sound, many people—especially at the beginning—find it difficult to stay awake, as the position is similar to sleeping. However, with regular practice and meditation, you can also strengthen this ability.
Positive effects of Savasana:
- Relieves insomnia, stress, agitation, and anger,
- Improves memory, boosts concentration,
- Relaxes the muscles in the body,
- Lowers blood pressure,
- Improves blood circulation,
- Deep meditative state regenerates tissues and cells,
- Relieves headaches,
- Improves your daily well-being.
Ultimately, in Savasana, we learn complete surrender and the release of everything we no longer need. In this way, we create more space in the body for peace and harmony.
Namaste,
